For diagnosing carotid sinus syncope the Carotid sinus massage is used and it is sometimes useful for differentiating supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) form ventricular tachycardia. It is like valsalva maneuver which is a therapy for SVT, but still it is less effective than the management of SVT with medications.

The medical massage therapists are capable of working in different settings such as private hospitals, offices, clinics, nursing homes, sport and fitness centre, and client's home and workplace to provide massage. But usually the therapists prefer an environment that is calm and soothing. The massage session usually last for 30 to 60 minutes. A short session would last for 15 minutes and a long one will last for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
During the first meeting the therapist start to discuss about your symptoms, medical history, your desire and other factors that are necessary for them to perform the massage. Then the therapists perform some assessment through touch and if he/she fined nothing making the massage imprudent they continue with the medical massage.
At the massage session you will be asked to lie on a padded table or sit on a stool or chair. Depending upon your posture your dressing will be changing (fully or partially undressed in case you lie on the table and fully clothed for a chair massage).
