Shiatsu means finger pressure and bodywork that originated Japanese. This eastern born
therapy applies the pressure with the help of thumbs, fingers and palms. It also uses the techniques like rolling, brushing, vibrating and grasping. Shiatsu is also known as acupressure.
The therapist of shiatsu uses tapping, squeezing, and rubbing techniques to unblock the energy blockages. The therapist uses the finger pads to apply the pressure. Some pressure points seem to more tender and often these are called as "Good Pain"
In simple shiatsu is said to be classic forms of relaxing massage therapy.
Shiatsu is a form of touch communication and is considered as the safe and effective medicine for prevention. The most important function of shiatsu massage is to balance the energy flow and to strengthen the vital organs.
Shiatsu says that the disease in the body is due to the blocked energy which tends to be either exhausted or over activate. The two energy forces are said to be positive and negative. So it is necessary to remove the blocked energy from the body.
The clients of the shiatsu massage are asked to lie on a mat on the floor. They are allowed to wear loose fiber clothes. The therapist then uses his elbows, hands, knees and feet to massage your body to balance your meridian. To cure the injuries and imbalance the therapist applies pressure on certain points. Shiatsu works on both physical and spiritual well beings. The clients experience different reaction after the treatment. The reaction can be crying, laughing, joy and stillness. The reactions are a symbol that the body is breaking from the old energy forms.

People suffering from certain disorders are not recommended for the shiatsu massage. Those people include:
Peoples having skin diseases, rash and open wounds
Recovery immediately after surgery
Soon after chemotherapy and radiation treatment unless the doctor recommends you.
Avoid the massage directly on the bruises, inflamed skin, unhealed wounds, abdominal hernia and tumors.
Avoid heavy meals before the session
If you are new the session arrive few minutes early to complete the normal steps and to relax yourself
Have a good communication with the therapist about you expectation and your problems.
