Swedish massage is the basic method of massage and is the first massage method that every
therapist learns first and applies on their clients. Swedish massage was developed by doctor Per Henrik Ling in 1700. The therapist applies deep pressure to the muscles and bones to relax them and rub in the direction of the flow of the blood. The Swedish massage allows the body to absorb more oxygen and to refresh the body with the help of that oxygen. The best of all the massage is that Swedish massage brings its clients a feeling of relaxation and satisfaction.

The therapist provides various massage movements like kneading, friction, tapping and stretching.
To alleviate muscle tension and to promote relaxation to the clients the therapist uses gentle pressure.
During the massage session you will be undressed and be under the towel or sheet. The therapist uncovers the part of the body they are going to work. This technique is called as draping
The therapist allows you to have your underwear on during the massage.
The therapist asks your preference to apply the pressure. The pressure can range from light to strong this is because Swedish massage involves some deep works on the areas of muscle tension.
Swedish massage techniques include kneading, friction, tapping, long strokes, shaking motions, effleurage and vibrations.
Effleurage: includes gliding strokes like thumbs, palms and fingertips
Petrissage: kneading and squeezing movements
Friction: pressure applied in circular movements
Vibration: movements done to vibrate or shake the body
Percussion: tapping

The main aim of Swedish massage is to increase the flow of oxygen in the blood and to remove toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage promotes welfare by affecting the muscles, nerves, circulation and glands.
Muscular strains are treated easily by flushing all the toxins in the body. Blood and oxygen circulation are increased without giving extra load to the heart. It also helps to improve the nervous system and to helps the skin to defoliate the dead cells.
